Coues deer are among the most challenging and rewarding deer to hunt in the Southwest. Often called the gray ghost, these sharp-eyed bucks blend into Sonora’s desert hills and brush, making patience, quality optics and experienced guides especially important.
We offer guided Coues deer hunts on several Sonora ranches. Our team has had high success on mature bucks over 90 inches, with several bucks exceeding 100 inches. Opportunities are limited because mule deer remain our primary focus and we schedule Coues hunts during a short peak-rut window.
Most of our dedicated Coues deer hunts take place in late January and early February. We commonly hunt from high-rack trucks to cover country and locate deer, with spot-and-stalk hunting used when the terrain and conditions allow.
Coues deer can be booked as a standalone guided hunt or added to select Mexico mule deer and desert bighorn sheep hunts.
